What is Teen Patti?

Three cards. One shared pot. A decision each time the action comes around. Teen Patti is a traditional card game whose name means “three cards” in Hindi. Players try to hold the strongest hand or remain in the round after everyone else folds.

A standard game uses a 52-card deck without jokers, usually with three to six players. You can look at your cards and play seen, or leave them face down and play blind. The table rules determine how much each action costs.

How a round works

1. Agree on the boot, betting limits, hand order and show rules before dealing.
2. Each player puts the boot into the pot and receives three face-down cards.
3. Take turns playing blind or seen, matching or raising within the limits, or folding.
4. The last player remaining wins the pot. If two players reach a permitted show, compare their hands.

What makes the game different?

Unlike Texas Hold’em, classic Teen Patti has no flop, turn or river. Casino games with Teen Patti in their name may use fixed payout tables instead of a shared player pot.

Strategy begins with limits

You cannot choose the cards you receive. You can choose the table, the amount you commit, whether to fold and when to end a session. A sequence of losses does not make the next hand more likely to win.
